Parental involvement

Parents are welcome in school and we have lots of volunteers who help in class.  Parents are regularly invited to attend a variety of school events.

These include:

  • Regular special events to share class work in our class showcase sessions where we share learning outcomes with parents and showcase our talents.
  • Music events
  • Performances and productions
  • Sports days and festivals
  • Parent report evenings - The school holds two formal parent consultation evenings during the year.  Parents are also welcome to meet with the class teacher or Head teacher; an appointment can be arranged through the school office.  A full report on your child’s achievements will be given at the end of the summer term.
  • Please visit our website to find out more information about our school and to see our class blogs and hear all about other exciting things that we do at Furzeham Primary & Nursery School.

Home Learning

Home learning is considered a very important part of a child’s education.

The aims and objectives of home learning are:

•  to promote a partnership between home and school to support each child’s learning

•  to assist pupils in making maximum progress in their academic and social development

•  to help pupils develop the skills of an independent learner

•  to consolidate and reinforce learning carried out in school and to allow children to practice skills  taught in lessons

•  to help children develop good habits for the future

Newsletter

We have regular newsletters which inform you of any recent events and dates coming up. We email this out unless you request a paper copy. Occasionally text messages are sent to parents informing them about important changes to club timetables or other school routines.

PTA

The Parent Teachers Association (PTA)

These are a lively group of people who support the school in lots of practical ways. They organise many events during the year which are intended as social occasions, fundraising events and links with the local community.   The PTA is a registered charity and meetings are held regularly, the AGM takes place in November. We are always keen to welcome new members. If you are interested in joining our PTA, please let the school office know, everyone is welcome and every little offer of help is appreciated.
